Shock 2,  Acrylic on Glass,  15" Diameter, 2002 and 2008

Shock 2 - Opaque vertical strips about one inch width descend over a silky, silver-brown background. A very wide eye shape, made with three thin lines, the middle of which is a big wide iris, depict a scared or shocked eye. There are slightly wider vertical bars in front of the eye, painted more thinly and loosely, almost smoke-like. The background color within the eye is the same as outside, and covers over the bars behind it completely, giving a more solid, two-dimensional quality to the eye. The eye is located just below center, and takes up about a twelfth of the surface. A more complete visual description to come!
