Stepping Off,  Acrylic on Glass,  15" Diameter, 2001

Stepping off - In the left half of this circular glass, coming from the top left quandrant, is a sketchy black line, depicting stairs, descending as a loose squiggle of right angles toward the center. They aren't even, and the very last one ends in a downward pointing line that tapers off about two inches above the bottom edge of the painting. Above the flat surface depciting the bottom step is the red tip of a white line, which goes out of the frame above the stairs, connoting a white cane. The background is the silvery brown color, with a subtle motion in the same diagonal as the line and the stair angle, creating a rushing downward quality to the image.
